In my experience so far, the time flies during two different circumstances: when you have shit loads of fun, or when you're too busy - and I guess it's rather obvious which one is the case here :)
It was about a month before I left for the Thailand trip that one of the students on the bBall court asked me: 'How long have you been here?' to which I answered 'Since September.' and then he went: 'Hmm, half a year'. I was like 'What...!?'
Till then, it was always just a few weeks, then just a few months, but somehow when the kid said 'half a year', it just sounded a lot, as it couldn't have been possible that half a year has already passed by... - but it did.
So how's things after half a year?
Great! Sure, the waaaouu and woooouusss are not there as intensely nor as automatically as they used to be, but I put some effort to keep them alive. Isn't that a truly funny one? -No matter the intensity of initial impressions we can always count on our adaptability to make any kind of circumstances the everyday norm. The good old routine kicks in, and looks to deplete you of the enthusiasm for tried things. Back home in Cro, there is a saying that goes: "Person is like a donky, s/he gets used to everything"
The day before I left for Thailand, while marking the exams my RO has extended an offer to renew my contract. Then, when answering my immediate question after I thanked her, she told me that I have till Jun/July to think about it. Yesterday, while discussing annual-leave for the coming few trips she told me to let her know the decision in April (if the answer is no)... 'Options, no plans' is one of my favorite ones, and delay of commitment (procrast...) is the infamous one, both very prominent. Since I had quite some time already to indulge in the luxury of the choice I gave her the answer:
As of currently, I tend towards staying for another run...!
PS: On the note of time flying, it was back in my late teens when I first recognised that the older I get the quicker the new year celebrations seem to be coming around. The thing is that the pattern still continues, and I've done some data triangulation in the years since. Unfortunately I'm still looking for an old/er person who will disagree with this. On the other had, it's gonna be hilarious when I'm 119... A blink and it's new years, a fart and another one goes by :)
